Left, right, left, right – Elodie marched to her little beat, intending to lead the group forwards. She barely reached the path exiting their initial space from the last floor’s stairs when a sound stopped her in her tracks. She jumped slightly, fur standing on ends, ears high, eyes wide with alarm as she stood at ready, head turning here and there. “What! What was that?! Show yourself!” She growled, until her attention was caught by Phoebe’s voice. “Wait, that was you?” She asked, her shoulders slumping as her body relaxed. So it wasn’t some crazy-looking pokemon. A smile broke out on her face, becoming the gateway to a small number of giggles, which were punctuated by tiny snorts. “You caught me off-guard there! I didn’t think Espurr could make those kinds of sounds.” Then again, Phoebe had proven she was capable of making terrifying faces, so perhaps she should have expected it. She looked delighted at her teammate finally taking a break and eating. “Good! Keep your energy up, but don’t move too much while eating, you might get tummy cramps.” Tummy cramps happened more when you went swimming, but Elodie believed they also happened if you moved too much while eating, especially if you had your mouth full – though that may be from the choking. She was about to nod at Phoebe’s suggestion, eager to get a move on, but was quickly reminded that Tesa hadn’t had her share. She frowned in concern, “You don’t have an apple? I don’t have one either! If I did, I’d trade with you in a heartbeat but—Oh, maybe Phoebe has another one?” She turned to the Espurr, but was unable to voice her question before a movement in the shadows caught her eye. “Watch out!” She said, diving away as a peculiar pokemon arrived. She took up her earlier stance, feet apart as she glared down the newcomer, the adrenaline rushing back into her. It was a small pokemon, but covered in spikes, and its crooked smile gave it the appearance of something definitely not worth trusting. The spikes made her hesitate for a second, but she steeled herself. Her teammates were either still eating or hadn’t eaten at all, so she had to act quickly and make this battle short. Elodie pushed her back legs, leaping forward to close the distance between her and the wild pokemon. Before they collided, she stopped herself by pushing her forepaws against the ground. She thrust her paw upwards and across, aiming to hit it right on its face to send it back. Hopefully it would surprise the enemy and buy her teammates some time. ELODIE USED COVET! MADE BY VEL OF GS

Phoebe paid little heed to Elodie's snickering, taking no offence as she continued to ignorantly gnaw on her apple, though she quirked an ear lightly to Tesa's plight and let her round-eyed stare drift over to study her. She ate through the Eevee's commentary although at her inquiry the psychic-type gave a little nod, taking a final bite from the fruit and tossing what remained of the core against a rock before she proceeded to begin rummaging in her satchel once more. Sure enough she soon produced another vibrant red apple, glinting appetizingly in the dim lighting of the cavern as she offered it up to the Tynamo, endearing stare unblinking as she recited, "Preparation is key."
Though the normal-type's outcry of warning had her jerking her head towards the fray with a startled blink and nothing more, watching Elodie dive to tackle into their ambusher before the slightest of frowns ghosted the Espurr's features. How tedious. She set the apple on a patch of dry rock for Tesa, excusing herself with robotic civility before she rounded on the Mareanie and began to wander over, still carefully holding the strap of her satchel as unblinkingly critical eyes wandered over her opponent. Spikes, potentially venomous, though Elodie seemed to come away unharmed which implied their potency was possibly dependant on either ability or use of moves, although they would most certainly provide defensive aptitude when it came to physical assault which meant that special attacks were the most suitable--
Phoebe paused to scrutinize the creature as it tumbled as a result of Elodie's attack, taking note of its pained countenance which understandably stemmed from the Eevee's significantly higher strength... Maybe a physical attack would be enough to finish the job without going through the hassle of putting it to sleep in order to retaliate with a Dream Eater. Still, Phoebe sighed as she steeled herself and tucked her satchel behind her, eyes narrowing a little as she locked onto her enemy. Physical attacks were not her forte, but-- She launched herself forward whilst the Mareanie was distracted, drawing back her paw and aiming a second strike into the wild Pokémon in assistance of her teammate.

Another grumble came from Tesa's empty stomach. Why does it have to be now? She contemplated if she should be doing other things to help the group out such as....well to be frank the best she could do was to provide her electricity against water type Pokemon lingering in the ominous caverns. She jumped slightly hearing the sounds and exclamations coming Elodie who was marching confidently into the unknown. She winced but continued keeping up with the pace the others were going at. "I'm surprised we've made it this far." She thought out loud, a tiny bit alert from the last false alarm from Phoebe. Yet the Espurr had been kind enough to give her a spare apple which the Tynamo nodded gratefully. "Thank y-you!" She lightened up, giving off a few sparkles. Suddenly her eyes caught the sight of a shape moving and the Eevee leaped forward attacking an odd shape. She blinked her eyes in confusion watching the fight go on attempting to grasp who the mysterious entity was until the cry gave it away. From that she could see it to be a mareanie who was more of a threat then the Slowpoke from before. "Getting close to it might let it poison you..." She warned in an alarmed tone unsure how fatal the poisoning would affect any of her team mates. She wiggled with astonishment, somehow still grasping the apple generously given to her by the Espurr, still recovering from the shock that somehow the fight had ended instantly and none of her teammates appeared harmed in anyway. "Glad to see no one got harmed." She sighed, taking a few nervous bites from the delicious apple. Tesa eats her apple

Success! Her hit had caught the Mareanie off-guard, driving the pokemon backwards. Not wanting to get caught by the pokemon’s spikes, Elodie jumped back to make some distance, but still remained a little closer to the enemy than her teammates. If it tried to attack, she was ready to act as a fluffy shield. It was in this moment that Phoebe made her move, surprising Elodie as she used a physical attack. The Espurr had aimed well, as expected by her precise eye, and the Mareanie stood no chance. With a final cry, it went down, falling unconscious on the cold cave floor. Elodie was still standing by, shocked, but was quick to turn her ears up and grin in delight at yet another fast battle. “Phoebe, I didn’t know you were a fighter! Not like that, at least! That was great!” She cheered, jumping in her spot. When she was done celebrating, the Eevee looked determined, brows furrowed with an eager smile as she realized she had more competition than she thought. Perhaps with enough training, she could hit an enemy once and have the battle over just like that! Her body tensed as a painful rumble trailed from her stomach. It was like a twist of a knot inside her gut, causing her face to contort in discomfort. It wasn’t unbearable, but it only brought more attention to her rapidly-emptying belly. She shifted on antsy feet, turning to her teammates with a pained look. “Oh, Tesa, where’d you get that apple? That’s good, I’m glad you’ve uh,” she momentarily drooled at the plump fruit, before catching herself and shaking her head vigorously. No! Her teammate needed that more than she did! Elodie had to be the strong one. She wiped her mouth with her paw. “We need to move. I-I think I hear something, so we’re probably close to that weird thing the job was talking about.” She looked around restlessly, her ears following suit as they twitched from this direction and that, catching a disturbance from above. She faced her teammates and nodded. “Let’s go, guys! To fea— finish the job!” Turning around, the Eevee began moving a little too quickly, practically dashing deeper into the dungeon. Her footsteps echoed in the cavernous area, followed quietly by the rumble of her empty stomach. Not long after, there was the sound of a frantic ‘Whoa whoa whooo—‘ followed by someone falling on the cave floor, and something made from hard glass bouncing against rock. With a soft curse, Elodie picked herself up and approached the thing that had tripped her. To her disappointment, it wasn’t food, but rather an orb. “At least it’s pretty,” she mumbled, pouting even as she pocketed it. There were two more lying about, but she left those for her teammates to take. MADE BY VEL OF GS

As soon as she had landed her attack Phoebe was quick to hop aside, unwilling to be in the path of those venomous stingers any longer than she had to be although she was admittedly mildly surprised to see the water-type go down so quickly. She blinked endearingly round eyes and deadpanned down at it, watching for a good long moment before she glanced down to the cavern floor and took notice of a shell, promptly kicking it towards the Mareanie and watching as it smacked into its forehead. She wasn't willing to risk an approach with the risk of it retaliating, but her cheeky endeavour confirmed that it had indeed fainted if its utter lack of reaction was anything to go by.
"Huh," she would have sounded surprised had ever aspect of her character not been almost robotic, watching the fallen enemy for a moment more before her stare was drawn by Elodie as her companion piped up, the Espurr blinking violent eyes blankly back at her in response before her attention drifted about the cove once more.
"Physical attacks are not my forte. I believe it somewhat reckless to allow yourself to get too close to an enemy before you have ascertained their capabilities," she droned softly, quirking a folded ear slightly to the sound of bounding paws and by the time she'd turned her head the Eevee was already off again. She watched on for a moment before exchanging a glance with Tesa, her thoughts difficult to read beneath that impassive mask, before the psychic-type exhaled a soft sigh and moved to follow suit after briefly adjusting her satchel.
The quiet didn't last long though as soon Phoebe quirked her head to the sounds of distress from the normal-type, the slightest of frowns ghosting her expression as she braced herself for battle though faltered as her stare drifted to settle on the glistening blue orbs winking back at them in the dim light. Her interest was instantly piqued as her eyes lit up, the Espurr tottering over to the orbs to stoop and investigate, scooping the remaining two into her paws for a closer examination. Most would see an orb and think nothing more of their individual capabilities, but Phoebe herself wouldn't dare trespass a dungeon without knowing all that could be known about them. In a way, she was an encyclopedia when it came to these type of things. And so after a close examination, she deduced--
"Evasion orbs. Quite useful in granting brief insight into an opponent's attacks and makes them easier to dodge. We'll make good use of these," she murmured, slipping one into her own bag before offering the remaining to Tesa, turning soon after to resume wandering after Elodie as they ventured deeper into the dungeon although slowing her pace to something more quietly cautious as the indecipherable ambiance of distant ruckus graced her senses.

upon ascending the stairs, the distant clamour grows louder and closer. with increased volume comes increased clarity, and the team can gradually grow to recognise it as disruptive cackling reverberating against the cavern walls. immediately upon reaching the top of the stairs the parties' eyes fall upon a fallen piplup explorer, with three malicious figure heckling as they rifle through his belongings for anything worth snagging. this must be the trio responsible for the 'unsettlement' the client vivillon spoke of. the bandit bunch consists of a carvanha and a nidoran♂, although their apparent leader seems to be the fearsome looking hakamo-o looming over them with arms crossed and barking what is worth taking and what isn't. they don't appear to have noticed you yet. what will you do?

Elodie had waited until her teammates pocketed their orbs before moving onwards. She would have bounded forward sooner, but her ears were picking up the sounds from above. Distant, muffled by the rocks, yet booming due to the cavernous layout of the labyrinth—they were no doubt coming close to the source. “They kinda sound like ghosts,” mumbled the Eevee as she padded through the cove path, eventually finding in one of the connected rooms the coveted staircase. There was still a bounce to her step as she climbed the staircase, but Elodie could feel her fur standing on ends. The sounds only grew louder as they ascended, and in an effort to calm her nerves, the Eevee began making small spooky sounds. “Ooo… ghooosts… ooo…” She kept her voice small, audible only to herself and her teammates. She didn’t want to disrupt whatever was waiting in the next floor. She stifled a chuckle and felt a little better as she poked her head into the room of the next floor. Elodie wasn’t scared of ghosts! But they could be a problem seeing as she only knew normal type moves. Her smile was wiped clean off her face when she was greeted by the sight of an unconscious Piplup. Around the Piplup was a familiar-looking brown bag whose contents had been spilled onto the ground. A badge bearing the Aestimian Guild’s emblem had been clipped onto it. Her brows knit together in a furious expression, mouth curling into a snarl as she saw three pokemon cackling at the Piplup’s expense and rummaging through their things, no doubt to steal. “They’re the ones causing trouble,” growled Elodie, her ears pressed against her head. Angry brown eyes examined the three bandits; A Nidoran, a Carvanha, and a… pokemon that she couldn’t remember the name for. She turned to her teammates. “Look, they must’ve ganged up on that poor pokemon to steal his stuff!” She placed her foot down, determined and furious. “We should give them a taste of their own medicine.” She looked back. The bandits were causing such a ruckus that they hadn’t noticed her team yet. The Nidoran and Carvanha seemed to be following the bipedal pokemon’s bidding. Elodie hated to admit it, but their leader looked tough, warrior-like—most likely a fighting type. Not a good combination with normal types so she couldn’t just rush in. Puffing out her cheeks, she felt impatience at the idea and was almost tempted to attack just to prove it wrong. She shook her head. “There’s gotta be a way to beat them. Any ideas?” She asked, facing her teammates. “Oh, maybe we could put them to sleep first?” She patted the bag dangling off her body with her paw. “This thing is a slumber orb, right?” She pulled out the orb from her bag briefly with her mouth, giving Phoebe a questioning look before dropping it back in. The Espurr had proven to be knowledgeable about these items from earlier. “It should put them all to sleep. We could save the Piplup while they’re outcold and attack them while they’re down.” She tilted her head. “Unless you guys have a better idea?” 𝓅𝒽𝑜𝑒𝒷𝑒 Tesa - 530 – sorry for the wait! Phoebe followed Elodie's lead in deliberate silence, not bothering to voice her objections to the concept of ghosts seeing as the environment of the cove would have been a completely nonsensical habitat for such Pokémon. That, and if there were ghosts populating Corsola Cove she would have heard about it in her intensive studies. However she was too engrossed in straining to decipher the commotion from the upper levels of the cavern as they ventured deeper, her expression drawn in mild, wary trepidation as they came across the steps grit with sand leading up to their destination. As they ascended she could discern the ruckus to be several jeering voices, and uncertain as to whether this was her cue to speed up or slow down she maintained her light-footed pace after exchanging a wordless glance with both of her associates.
Upon reaching the top of the stairs they were fortunately granted the cover of a boulder, from which they could peek around and perceive the scandalous scene of three Pokémon plundering a fallen Explorer. The Espurr's expression, usually indecipherable, descended into dark displeasure as her critical eye flitted about their foes, immediately set to calculate their best approach from here once she had a read on their individual-- Elodie's suggestion bounced her from her trance with a blank blink, recollection clicking that they had orbs in their possession and as she produced the item in question and spared Phoebe a glance, apparently seeking affirmation, the psychic-type's stare drifted over to her slowly to study the object for several moments. And then the slightest of smiles ghosted her features, so barely there it could have been a mirage as she weighed up the suggestion, meeting the Eevee's glance for a mere moment before her attention was drawn by the troublemakers once more as she nodded slightly.
"A commendable suggestion. I was considering it myself," she murmured softly, as to not be heard by their soon-to-be opponents, dipping a paw silently into her satchel to retrieve an orb identical to the one Elodie had just produced. "You may hold on to your own if you wish. I tend to carry these around frequently in case I need to use Dream Eater in a pinch and Yawn won't cut it. The effects of the Slumber Orb don't last for very long, and so we should make the most of them whilst they last and watch each others' backs if our adversaries are to wake up before we have substantially weakened them. Is everybody ready?"
Phoebe cast a glance around both of her partners for verification on the fact they were adequately prepared, before she reciprocated the sentiment with a small nod and glanced back towards the outlaws. "It may be wise to hold your breath," she informed quietly. And with that, she raised the paw holding the orb in question and smashed it into the ground, the echoing shatter possibly too sudden to really warn their enemies in advance as to what had happened before an unnatural mist was gushing from the confines of the glass and promptly flooding the room only to begin dissipating after just a few vital seconds.

The shimmering Tynamo felt a shiver go through her whole body upon the discovery of the strange orbs and the new discovery of the peculiar voices. She'd been through a couple of troubling battles already with her trusted team mates it felt wrong to quit now - more so that they were starting to actually wrap the job up. At the same time it was unnerving to be in the cave for such a long period of time. When was the last time I saw the sunlight? How many days have gone by? Are we too late? Has someone already accomplished the mission? Such delirious thoughts flooded her head although it was up in the air it might have been another side effect of, well, traveling on an empty stomach. Not that she wouldn't have to deal with such worries for much longer as she remained partly determined by Elodie's moxie and Phoebe's calm resolve. Tesa was always lingering in the back, nervous gaze flickering all over the place yet she fixated her eyes on Phoebe who held out one of the orbs out to her. "Thank you." She managed to give a grateful nod towards the Espurr all the while taking the orb out of her grasp gently. It was nerve wrecking enough they'd grab some neat loot out of all this spelunking, but with the possibilities of what could go wrong or the serious threat the mysterious pokemon could pose towards them. It wasn't until Elodie did bring up their plan of attack did it occur to her maybe they had a slight chance of success despite the various variables and the unkown. "I'm good with those plans, maybe thunder wave should work out in our favor if the odds are against us." She dipped her head in agreement with both their well thought out plots. It was within mere heartbeats that she saw the Espurr use her slumber orb that she quickly held her breath in, daring to not breath in any of it accidentally. Elodie // 𝓅𝒽𝑜𝑒𝒷𝑒tUBsD9df1-1001-100
