Hornet had fluttered through town like a firefly all day yesterday, double and triple checking her supplies. Munchlax would be sick of her by now, she’d think, if she hadn’t made him a few hundred Poke richer every time. There was a strange weight to her exploration bag as she walked, and her new band wrapped gently but securely around her foreleg. She didn't think she'd need it, but... it couldn't hurt, right? Her fancy new Power Band made her feel a little more confident, so she supposed it had been worth the price.
She could do this. She could do this. She would do this. Hornet stood a little taller, lashing her tail, her shoulders hunched and footsteps light. Her gait was uncharacteristically slow as she wandered forward, walking by the cliffs like a girl in a dream. The sea was nice, she noted absentmindedly, gleaming like stars in the night sky as it rolled and rumbled in the afternoon sun. She forced herself forward with a nod. This will go great. She wasn't even scared, really. But on that note, if her breathing was a little bit ragged, well, there wasn't anyone else around to point it out.
There wasn't anyone else around. She was used to that. She’d been traveling since she was fourteen, and surely she’d run into nastier things than this tiny little mystery dungeon. She’d be fine. No, she wouldn’t just be fine, she’d kick it’s ass. For sure. Definitely. She bit her lip and continued to walk, intensely aware of the grains of sand and little stones beneath her feet.
Hornet squared her shoulders and kept walking, her ears perked as she took in the comforting crash of the sea. There was a Raichu here, somewhere, and it needed her help. Reminding herself of that helped her bat away the feeling that certainly wasn't worry, no, that would be ridiculous. This would be an adventure, and Hornet could defend herself, right? Right. She was strong and fast and clever, and she'd even stocked up on supplies. She could take some feral Pokemon. Even if she ran into a ground type, she had her Ice Fang. She closed her eyes for a moment, breathing in deeply as she walked along the beautiful Corsola Cove, slowing and increasing her pace, at times, but never entirely stopping.
