v. dungeons
probably the most important mechanic on this entire site, so listen up you nerds. here's a few of our basic dungeon rules:
001. a maximum of 4 pokémon per party - no more. even if you're part of a team you can still enter dungeons with other teams, etc. this is to encourage roleplaying with people you might not know otherwise!
002. explorers and hunters can enter dungeons together, as long as it ISN'T for a bulletin job - bulletin jobs are specifically for either explorers or hunters.
003. outlaws and guild members cannot be part of the same party - if an outlaw wants to try and sabotage a job, they can enter the thread with the parties' permission.
004. liquid time - if you buy items after you've entered a dungeon with our liquid time mechanic, unfortunately you will not be allowed to use them in that dungeon. we'll have to assume that the shopping was done after your dungeon expedition. sorry!
005. posting order - in a dungeon, the posting order is determined by speed. check your logs to determine this, and please stick by the posting order once it's established!
006. you don't have to have a bulletin job to go into a dungeon - if you just want to train or whatever else, go right ahead!
007. as a member, you can only be a part of three dungeon threads at a time over all of your characters - this is to reduce the amount of pressure on the staff as well as yourself. we want people to have fun here, and we don't want things getting too hectic!
008. job challenge ratings - these classify how difficult a job is depending on your characters' level. the simple way of looking at it is the recommended minimum level for challenge rating:
1 - lv 5
2 - lv 10
3 - lv 18
4 - lv 25
5 - lv 32
6 - lv 40
7 - lv 50
009. if you go a month without posting in a dungeon thread without explanation of absence... you will be considered to faint and the thread will be archived. if it was for a job, the job will be unlocked and open for other people to take up instead.

inside the dungeon
now that that's sorted, let's get into the nitty-gritty stuff:
001. if a party member goes three days without posting... you have permission to skip their turn and move onto the person next in the posting order. if they go three rounds without posting (1 round = everyone has made a post and you return to the top of the posting order), it will be assumed they have fainted.
002. hunger - for every post/turn, whether it's yours or not, your belly will go down by 5. you'll be notified that you start getting hungry when you reach 50/100 (10 posts. 20 posts without eating an item such as an apple and your health will begin deteriorating 2 points per post!)
TIP - make sure to stock up on apples before you enter a dungeon! remember, the maximum number of turns that can go by before you are guaranteed to find stairs if you have a full party of four is 12!
003. if a party member faints - they can no longer post unless revived. the rest of party can continue to travel through the dungeon without them, carrying the fallen pokémon along if you're looking for a chance to revive them, and if you find a reviver seed or the like you can revive them later if you want!
004. if you faint and are not revived for the rest of the dungeon - you will lose half of all your money. sorry, but it's gotta have some kind of repercussion!
005. finding items, stairs, and encountering wild pokémon - this is where it might get a little complicated. whenever you go to make a post, in the top right hand corner you will notice a little dice symbol. it'll ask you to roll a dice between 1-100. upon entering a dungeon / arriving to the next floor, the person last in the posting order will roll that dice at the end of their post (the end of the round) and tag a member of staff. that person will roll at the end of all of their posts, unless they're in combat already.
the number you roll will determine whether you find an item, an enemy, stairs, money, etc. a staff member will get back to you as quickly as possible notifying you and your party what you have found, or will roleplay an enemy pokémon if it appears. if a member of staff hasn't gotten back to you within two days, please make another post tagging us again as your notification may have gotten lost!
staff member tags - @ admin (me), @ pine (global mod), @ mandragora (dungeon mod)
006. stairs - if you have found stairs, you can move onto the next floor. experience points and such will be awarded for clearing that floor and if you've leveled up, you can take that opportunity to learn a new move if the staff member informs you you can, or even evolve if you've met the requirements.
if you haven't found the stairs on your first three rolls, you can automatically find them on your fourth. this is just to ensure you aren't wandering around aimlessly for too long!
007. pokémon with a speed boost - the amount of stages it has been boosted determines how many extra actions you can make in your turn (e.g. 2 speed boosts, you can attack three times). just to keep it simple, this doesn't affect the posting order. don't worry about attack boosts and stuff, staff will keep track of that!
008. weather - lasts for 5 rounds, or until you go to a new floor. damaging weather conditions such as hail or a sandstorm deal 1 point of damage per turn to all pokémon vulnerable to that particular weather condition.
009. status conditions - ah, everyone's favourite.
BURN & POISON - for every one of your turns, your health will decrease by 1hp. the condition will lift whenever you're cured or reach the next floor.
BADLY POISONED - for every one of your turns, your health will decrease by 2hp. the condition will lift whenever you're cured or reach the next floor.
PARALYSIS - no effect outside of battle. in battle however, each time you go to make a move you must roll a dice with a range of 1-10 at the end of your post. if you roll a 5 or below, you will be considered immobilized and your move will automatically fail.
FROZEN & ASLEEP - you will be frozen/asleep for two of your turns. on the third you can thaw out/wake up and make a move. you can end this effect early if a teammate gives you an item that will eliminate it.
CONFUSED - similar to paralysis. roll a dice between 1-10. on a 1-2, your attack will hit a party member. on 3-6 it will miss completely. on a 7-10 it will hit its intended target. confusion will fade after your second turn.
010. using items - whenever you use an item, you must always tag a member of staff at the bottom of that post. this is both so we can update your log and to explain the effects of the item if it's something like a trawl orb or itemizer orb.
011. solo dungeons - primarily, the same rules apply as a regular dungeon save for a few alterations. you will roll upon entering a dungeon, and roll on all of your turns- we don't want you having to make pointless posts to yourself!
012. enemy encounters - PLEASE NOTE that upon encountering an enemy, rolling will be put on hold until they are either defeated, escaped from or dealt with through other means. upon appearing, they will get the first hit on you if they outspeed you, and from there you are allowed to use ONE MOVE per post. describe it if you want, as long as you specify which move you're using at the bottom of your post if you haven't already in your post!
